Depends on your definition of adoption...if you're talking also rescue then 4 in the past year and the year isn't over yet!

February: Jax (ferret) Lady was allergic.

July: Max (ferret) adopted from SPCA after owner dumped him there because he *smelled*

July: Scout (kitty) found him outside my apartment dehydrated and malnurished

September: Lulu (ferret) argued with the petstore not to send her back to be PTS but to give her to me so I could work on her biting problem...Funny thing is, after that first day, she hasn't shown any aggression whatsoever.

This year, we adopted Basil...so 1 for us...

We did adopt Noel less than a year ago...but that was in 2001.

Two adoptions/rescues, and one death...I currently have six cats! My mom (Lillycat) has adopted one kitty this year.

However one contributes to the animal population...with time, money, love, or education...keep up the great work, don't give up, and bless us all!!!!!!

We've only brought in one permanent resident this year (2002), and that would be Milly Cockatiel, who was homeless after her owner entered a nursing home. Roger, I wouldn't call an adoption, but without him, we wouldn't have found out how much we love Cockatiels and wouldn't have even known about Milly! And boy do they love each other!!!

I will say that Helen and I have certainly tried to do our part in other ways, though. We have done numerous rescue transports....if I go back and count, we have probably assisted in the potential adoption of 60-70 dogs in 2002, all rescues, who were saved from shelters and put into foster care. And we can't forget out foster friends, Ingram (who was here temporarally, twice, but is now adopted), Weston (who spent a week with us and is now adopted) and our girl, Splash, who came and stayed for a month before being adopted by a family in Vermont. Although none of these were ours, we loved each and every one, and hope for only good things for them with their new, adopted families.

It's been a good year, all the way around.

Much to Merlins disgust we adopted Lady (newfy) and were adopted by Ebony (cat) so 2 this year .
oops I forgot the Bunn kid that was a rescue tha t a freind gave me for my birthday. Some idiot thought I'll make $ selling easter bunnies. When the plan failed turned loose 150 bunnies. My friends pit/rott got loose and started killing them (pup didn't know better and freind KNOWS every thing on training (not)) Saved this one she must have just opened her eyes.I had to still feed her milk and teach her to eat pellets. My sion loves her to death so shes keeping my 12 year old mini lop/jersey woolly X company. Shes twice the size of him .

Don't know if Abby would count either ....she was a stray in town that moved in with us this past summer! If so that would be 1 dog.
