The vet who did the ultrasound called this morning with some not so good news about Jack. I then talked to my vet to see what her feelings were on the information and it wasn't any better. In fact, she brought words into it that I did not want to hear
Jack has multiple cysts on his left kidney. His right kidney doesn't even look like a kidney - they don't know if a tumor has encased the kidney or what is going on for sure. His prostrate is also swollen although there is no signs of anything going on to the architecture of it (that's her words) so it might not be cancer. The right kidney could very well be cancerous.
SO Jack is going back to the ultrasound people next Tuesday to have an ultrasound looking down from above so he would be standing up to see if they can find anything that resembles a kidney on the right side. It could be a tumor on the adrenal gland pushing the kidney out of the way. They way they spoke if it is of the adrenal glad and it's that big it is most likely cancer.
Depending on how much interfering the cysts on the left kidney is doing to it's job will depend on whether they can remove the right kidney. If they remove a kidney my vets can do it. If it is the adrenal gland a specialist needs to do it and that means another trip to Columbus. The ultrasound doctor will also be doing more x-rays on his chest to see if there is any signs of growths in his lungs.
None of this information is good. There is no really easy way out with this one.
Please, please pray from Jack. And us. I don't know if I can handle losing another dog so soon after Snoopy.

Please understand what I'm saying when I say I don't want to wrap my mind around this one. That helpless feeling that pervades this type of situation is overwhelming. It is hard enough when we have to go through all the medical tests, treatments, etc., but when we have to do for our pets to whom we have no way of offering an explanation, the stress is just awful. Know that I will be praying for Jack and for you and Carl.

I am just catching this thread now. I am so sorry that you and Jack have to go through this. I often remind myself of the "down side" of loving so much. But, of course, it is worth it and we all choose to love them with all our hearts. I will pray for you and Jack. And please remember what a GREAT life Jack has had since you gave him his furrever home![]()
