Puppy Pictures Anyone? Photo Heavy *Cuteness Warning*

I was just digging through some old photos of my pups, and thought I would share. I don't think I've posted these before, but I apologize if I have!

This is our Lucy, the 1st night we brought her home. It's amazing to me how little she was....she will be 2 on July 24th.

Her with some of her toys

I love this one....Lucy chewing on the book that we bought to teach her NOT to chew. Nice.

Lucy learning "high five" with her Daddy. She was a fast learner!

    more to follow....

Now some of Miss Molly! Molly is now about 8 months old....we adopted her at 4 months from a shelter, after seeing her picture on a website....we had to have her.

This is the 1st picture I ever saw of Molly - she is in front.

Sadly, her 3 siblings all died of the disease that almost took Molly from us. Luckily, she's a fighter.

The vet tech at the animal hospital in Tennessee sent me these 2 pictures because she knew how anxious I was to HAVE HER already!

I knew right away I was in love.

This is Molly getting handed to us off of the transport

She was probably wondering what all that white stuff was

The moment I had been waiting for

    Her 1st night home

    Snow???

    Napping.

She seemed SO, SO lethargic for a puppy - we found out why at our vet appointment the next day. Luckily, after about 5 days in the best emergency animal hospital in Boston, she pulled through.

    More to follow....

Lucy at first didn't know what to make of this little dog who didn't want to run and play with her. At first she seemed put off by it, like she thought that Molly didn't like her. Then, it seemed like she realized somehow that she was sick - does that sound crazy? She followed her everywhere - napped with her, went from room to room with her, watched her eat and drink....

Lucy would bounce toys in front of Molly's face, trying to get her to play. She would nuzzle her, trying to get her to get up. The only reason we waited to admit her to the emergency room, was because she was eating and drinking at home, and they told us that as long as someone (me) was supervising her in case she took a turn for the worse, as long as she was eating and drinking and getting her medicines, she was ok at home. Then, she woke up one morning and wouldn't move. She wouldn't drink, wouldn't eat....would barely open her eyes....so off to the ER we drove. They told us they didn't think she would make it - told us that it might be "financially prudent" to put her down. We told them to do what they could, and kissed her goodbye, in case it WAS goodbye. We went home, and Lucy was a wreck....going from room to room crying, looking for her friend.

Finally, Molly came home. At first she was still very tired, and still on medicine - but little by little, her personality came out! She got peppier, and started actually playing with toys - and with Lucy!

Now they're inseparable, and Molly is (fairly!) healthy! She has demodectic mange (the noncontagious kind) which we've been treating for a while, and is going away finally we think.

So....I hope you enjoyed my post

What cute girls! I'm so glad Molly recovered. Where in TN did she come from?

She came from a pound called the Tipton Pound in Brighton Tennessee. It's a hellhole. They kill almost every dog that gets dropped off there, and even more of the cats.

The rescue I work with has started working to try to reduce the euthanization rate at this particular shelter, and so far we're having a hard time keeping up with the irresponsible pet owners in the area who won't spay/neuter their pets, or drop them off there without a care in the world that they will end up dead in a few days.

Sorry to vent - it's just really frustrating.

I called yesterday to inquire about the multiple listings for lab puppies (which look purebred) on the site - only to find out we couldn't rescue them, because they had already been killed. I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach, about 12 times.

I'm in love with your girls! Good thing you put a cuteness warning, I just kept scrolling down saying "oooou", "ahhhh!" They are adorable!!! I'm so glad Miss Molly is getting better, she reminds me so much of my black & tan (RB) girl, Rosie.

    Thanks!

I wish I knew what breed Molly was - anyone care to venture a guess? She's been showing some herding tendencies lately - chasing Lucy around the yard and nipping at her tail and hips, it's sort of funny. We know she's got some shepherd in her....but other than that? Who knows.

Here are pictures of her siblings (RIP) if seeing them helps at all?

-squeels- They are both too freaking precious. Of course, my heart is bouncing all around for Molly and her siblings. So sorry the rest of them didn't make it.

I wouldn't know what breed Molly might be, so I'll put her in the category of TOTAL CUTIE! I love the photo of little Lucy chewing on the Labrador retriever book. The one of her giving a high-five to her dad is absolutely precious. Very long, happy and healthy lives to you with your loving parents, Misses Lucy and Molly!

Kay, I was so upset when her littermates didn't make it. For one, we got the news of them dying 1 by 1 when Molly was in the hospital, so of course it made me fear the worst. And 2, I had kind of hoped that maybe one of them might get adopted somewhere near me, and we could do playdates together with her brother/sisters....So sad

Cassiesmom - When we first got Lucy, my fiance was on a break from school for 2 weeks....he went into like, boot camp training mode with her! She LOVED it. When he wasn't working on stuff with her she would sit there next to him until he would start with her again - she was such a fast learner, and of course it helps that she's a lab and will literally do anythinggggg for food!

I taught her some new ones recently - she now knows "clean up your toys"....she goes around and picks up her things and puts them in the toy bin....only to empty them out again, of course. and she knows "fruit loop" and "cheerio" (spins in a circle in either direction). When she can't figure out what I'm trying to get her to do sometimes, she will randomly do fruit loop and cheerio in rapid succession thinking that maybe that will get her the treat lol

Thank you Kay for the awesome siggy!!!
