Dox-hund is how I pronounce it. But I usually try to stay away from pronouncing it and just say Doxie.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

My biggest problem is not with people who pronounce it incorrectly...although it does bug me a little. I just get bummed when people learn the correct way and don't want to change. I don't know, it's not something I think about, except when it's brought up like this.

I say dox-hund or dox-und. I don't understand where people get a "t" from or where people get "hound" from...unless they're trying to literally translate it from german or something...but, then isn't that badger hound? I think my landlady in Germany told me that, because I had Bruno, who was a dachshund mix, but looked pretty much purebred.

I'm always curious how people come up with certain pronunciations. (My friend in South Carolina says "brakfust" instead of "brekfust" (breakfast), and it turns out he gets it directly from his dad! i never bothered to ask where his dad got that from, ha ha)
