    Got my rainbow shark(s)

Ok, so technically I got two, males, 1.5" each, and I know they can't be kept together well in pairs, but no problems in the quarentine tank as of yet. In May they will be in seperate tanks, one for my female bettas and one for brichardi cichlids. Rainbow sharks have been on my wish list forever.

First little boy, Xander. Sorry about the blurry pics. His territory is the bottom back and right side of the tank.

Second little boy, unnamed. He sticks to the front of the tank and cleans the glass constantly.

I think their territories may have to do with their store situations. Xander was in an aggressive tank, with little light at all, and the tank was the bottom one (near the floor) in an ok store. The unnamed boy was in a peaceful tank with lots of light and interaction in a very nice fish store. I like Xander best because he's dark, but he's hard to find sometimes.

Wow they are very neat! I thought they were red-tailed sharks at first, we have them at our pet stores alot, they are just all black-bodied sharks with red fins.

But yours are very neat looking!

Thanks all. I wish I could get clearer pics. One is light grey, the other is dark, both have a black stripe on the eye and a black spot on the tail. And since they are males, they're anal fin is outlined in black.

Hey I was just wondering...I have had a lot of Rainbow Sharks, but how did you tell if they were males or not?

The anal fin on the male has a black stripe along the back, or sometimes is completely outlined in black. In females that fin is completely red.

    Thanks chocolatepuppy.
(I stopped in at the dollar store yesterday and couldn't get past the little dog statues. All they had were retrievers and dalmatians, not my favorites by any means but I couldn't leave them there, could I?)

I have a big rainbow shark. He was one of the original fish I got, over four years ago. He's about five inches long now.

They're cute^^! I just love sharks.. I have one rainbow right now.. He was a rescue(came from the batch of fish I was forced to take or else their old caregiver was going to dump them in a ditch. x_x).

Anyway! They're both beautiful. I wish mine would clean the front of the tank when I'm around... mine is always hiding. =]
