It's easy to say, just long. It's pronounced "Chog-agog Man-Chog-agog char-bunna Gun-ga-mog" - the capital letters indication emphasis. And locals, by the way, refer to it as Webster Lake.

Theoretically it's a Nipmuc name, though hard to rpove. The area was Nipmuc territory before Europeans came. The Nipmucs wiped out my hometown (just north of Webster) twice before the "settlers" managed to stay settled.

Karen, I managed to pronounce the name of that lake! Give me a couple of months and I'll get it down pat. Did you say the local kids grow up pronouncing it?!

Thanks CyberSides for posting these pictures. It gives the rest of us a feeling of being included in the meeting. Everyone looks like they were having a fun time.

So glad you're all enjoying the pics! Karen does an impressive job sayng the name of that lake, I got left in the dust somewhere around the second "agogg"! As for cold...it was like 6 degrees! And that last picture of Donna & David where they look all happy - wanna know a secret? Those smiles were FROZEN on their faces! It's actually their teeth chattering!

Those with the right parents do! My mother's high school history teacher gave extra points on a certain grade if kids could say the name correctly, no stumbling, so we all learned it just in case!
