Help -- Need source for digging article

    Hi,

I'm writing a short article on preventing problem digging in dogs for Dog Fancy, due very soon. I'm desperately in need of somebody to share a little story (anecdote) to open the article about their dog's digging problem and how they solved it (preferably with a positive method like increasing exercise/training, giving the dog an alternative digging spot, etc.).

If you'd like to help me out, please e-mail me at [email protected]. If I use your story I'll be sure you get a copy of the magazine when it comes out.

    Thanks, and happy holidays!

    Mackenzie

There are several ways I stopped this. One was to take the stool and place it in the hole dug. They stop awfully quick. Another one by fences is to put rebarb at the fence, nailed into the ground about every two feet for a large dog so they cant dig their way out. Another method is to put chicken wire, or foil in the hole and cover it.
The real way to stop digging in the yard is to be out with the dog. Give the dog something to do. Boredom causes more digging than anything. This would also include food balls or something to push around, of course playing fetch. A dog left to their own devices can have more problems than digging- they can be stolen, get out and hopelessly lost by the time you get home as well as being ostrasized from family life. With the desire of a dog to be a pack member being isolated to the yard is rather cruel in my point of view..
