    kitten question

i just recently gotten a kitten from a local humain soc. Ive noticed that it always looks like shes about to poop. I dont mean to sound gross or anything but it looks like she has to drop one constantly. When she does theres always a little bit left on. So i wipe it up with a baby wipe. She is really skinny too and i was thinkin that might be why it looks like she has to poop constantly. I was thinking maybe to add a little bit of water too her food?
Oh ya im open to suggestions to some female cat names. I had a bunch if i were to get a male but i didnt owell.

Can you take her to the vet? Sounds like she needs a checkup.

It is always a good idea to have a new pet checked out. You mentioned two things that say she is not in top shape..she's skinny and has some problems with going poo.

Now, most kittens go through a skinny stage at about 2-3 monthes old and many cats turned in to the HS have not had the best food before they came there....so that is very likely nothing serious, but it could be and it is better to find out.

The poo issues may be due to a change in food. She could be constipated from being a touch dehydrated. Again it is very likely nothing too serious, but best to check.

Until Monday, makes sure she has lots of water available to drink. You may want to moisten her kitten food with water or give her a canned variety of kitten food. Both would increase her water intake and could do no harm.

How old is she? What color and type of cat is she?

I usually end up letting the kitten's personality determine his/her name, but I have always thought Sweetums would be a good name for a littlegirl cat. (I have 11 cats at the moment)

Good luck and congrats on saving a little life by adopting.

Most kittens are born with intestinal parasites. A vet visit and some Strongent or Drontal will get rid of those.

Canned kitten food has alot of good nutrients. Try giving the kitten 1/2 a can 3 times a day.

ive been tryin to watch her as she poops lately and i think she is constipated. she sits there for a bit then it finally pops out a bit. It comes out a bit and she thinks i fell so she starts walkin so i falls outta the litter somewere =[ Is it because shes young still? i added a bit of water to her food too.

You are probably right that she thinks she is done. This problem is most likely because she is young. (How old did they say she was?) Once her system adjusts to new food and she's had her first vet visit, you should see this problem resolved.

Again, that first visit is a good chance to ask questions of someone who can see the kitten and give you a trained opinion about how to help her grow into a healthy happy companion. Please go as soon as you can.

I once had a very young kitten that would dig deep holes in the litter, put her little butt over the edge of the pan and poop, then cover the hole that contained nothing... She stopped doing that within a week. It was just a matter of her not being coordinated yet. (That was my old Sootie girl who lived with me for 18 years. She was a sweetieand one of the best friends I have ever had.)

Yes, try can kitten food and see if that helps her go easier... Being constipated is not fun.

Well besides her wanting to play with her own dryed up turds lol. I havnt taken her to the vet yet because my best friends mom made me promise i would take to her and shes getting back from vaction this friday so im gonna take her in then.
