    Is eating bugs normal?

A live bug beats any treats according to my pups. They'll enthusiastically eat any bugs they can dig up from my yard, and enjoy it so much. Should I be concerned?

Fenway doesn't eat bugs. My cats do though. I can't imagine eating a bug can be bad for them though. What kind of bugs are you talking about?

As long as they are not poisonous I wouldn't worry one bit.

There are some bugs who are toxic to dogs - just be sure to watch they don't get bit/stung or eat a poisonous bug.

Fozzie ate a grass-hopper today, right in front of me! =/ poor little thing.

I am usually on him making sure he isn't eating bees, centipedes, or spiders. We don't have a lot of bugs in our yard, thankfully! Crazy puppies.

Autumn loves bugs. She especially loves chasing (but not eating these ones) the challenging bugs like bees and ants.

I know this is a habbit I am trying to break. We would be in agility class and Zoey could be taking a jump or something and she will all the sudden just stop and chase after a fly.
Thanks so much Ashley for the siggy!

TORTURING and eating bugs is an accepted practice in the Ploss household. Providing the "bug" in question isn't poisonous or anything.

Shortie Girl LOVES to play with flies till they conk out. Then she snacks on them. Protein, PURE protein!

    LOL.

I have to take my answer back. Fenway eats moths. He ate one last night! And then kissed me on the lips! GROSS!

    poisonous bugs?

Please tell me which type of bug is poisonous for my pups? I think so far they've been eating grass-hoppers, moths, dragonflies, flies, crickets.. I have not seen a bee in our backyard, so I'm not sure if whether we don't have bees, or my dogs have eaten them all

    Most bugs are not poisonous

and I'm unfamiliar with any that are outside of venomous ones. Usually a sting on the nose is reminder enough not to try to eat bees. My prior dog would take her big lab paws and club the poor little bees to death.

If they eat enough exosheleton types such as circadia they can end up with intestinal blockages. But that takes a volume of bugs eaten in order to happen.

Basically you shouldn't worry about it.
