    What snacks can dogs eat?

There was a thread on this a long time ago but I was just wondering what fruits veggies and other snacks are good for them. Snuggles is a shih tzu. I want to get her on some healthier food than what we currently feed. Aside from kibble. Bananas are her favorites! I hear cottage cheese is good for them. Green beans are they okay? And what about peanut butter? Any tips would be appreciated!

Fruits and Veggies don't have much of a benefit to dogs unless they are pureed. Dogs cannot digest cellulose. The cell walls of plants fruits/veggies are made of cellulose, thus we've got break the cell walls so they can get the nutrients out.

    Some good veggies/fruits to puree..

    Carrots
    Tomatoes
    Broccoli
    Cauiliflower
    apples
    cantaloupe

I didn't know that. All this time my Necie has been feeding one of her pugs carrots and it's just going right through her? I'll have to tell her.

My dog Fenway eats cottage cheese. I buy individual snack ones and feed it to him a couple of times per week. Once in a while he gets a piece of bacon for a snack (not healthy). But he only gets a piece once in awhile. Peanut butter is good for dogs too.
I love Fenway, JoJo, Olivia and Nonnie!

hhhmm I didn't know that. some of those snuggles doesn't like but most she is pretty happy with. Would you need a food processor to puree or would a blender do?

A blender would do but I prefer to use my food processor.

There's a longer list of veggies/fruits for dogs here.

Just stear clear of onions, potatoes, and grapes/raisins. There's probably more that are dangerous in large amounts, but those are the most common.
