I've decided to stop naming all my bettas. =P It's getting too hard remember all those names.

wow, stunning! Would you mind attatching a desktop sized pic of the male? I'd like his pic as my wallpaper. Be sure to post spawn updates! I'd like a CT plakat if I was allowed. Maybe in a few years when I'm at college.

If I spawn a double tail with one of the babies from the first spawn, I'll get 50% double tails and 50% single tail with the double tail gene.

Since the breeder conditions her bettas, I added them into the spawn tank right away. He doesn't seem too interested in her so I may have to switch fish and pair up my double tail girl with my super delta male. Same results in the end.. but I'd just rather go with this pair since I know they came from great lines.

Yep! We live in Louisiana! I am all giddy and excited. I bet you are overjoyed!

Out of idle curiosity, how can you tell that a feesh is interested in another feesh? Poor MG male isn't going to get any lovin'.

    Thank you!

Hehe, the MG male actually ended up spawning with the female today. But because I was a dummy and didn't check on them enough, when I finally noticed that there were only about 8 eggs, she ate 5 of them! I was happy with the 8 since I wanted a small spawn and all I really need is just one baby from this spawn to get my second generation (the one I'm really aiming for). I *hope* there are still a few remaining.. but I released the female again in hopes of getting a few more eggs out of her.

People have different methods for breeding bettas but what I do is, I put the female in a clear container (I usually use a 2L pop bottle. It's cheap and works!) The male will start flaring and will usually begin bubblenesting. If he doesn't, I add a bit of somebody else's bubblenest to get him going. To tell if the female wants to spawn, I look for vertical stripes. It's hard to tell with the opaque females but all of my females have always been willing to spawn.. it's the males I have trouble with.

Woohoo! Glad to hear that they're getting along!

How long/many generations until you, and they, will be ready?

Depends on what you want. If you'd like a betta exactly like daddy, it'll take at least until the second generation.. so December/Januaryish If you wanted just a mustard gas, they'd be ready around September.. assuming I can get them to spawn soon. =P

I haven't looked in pet general in a long time. But, I've just acquired two little betta males, and, now I'm checking out the other bettas. That male is so beautiful. I'm a sucker for how pretty they are. I'd better be careful, or I'll end up with a ton of them. eek. I'll be coming to you with questions, though, if I do, if that's all right!

I've talked with my husband and he said he's willing to wait! Troy says the boy is so pretty and, "...he looks like he has hair!".
