Slick, I know you worried about giving her the fluids, but you've done very well! I'm glad to hear Speckles is eating - if only a little. As Debbie said, that means she hasn't given up completely.

I'll will keep you and Speckles in my thoughts and send lots of positive vibes to you both. Give her gentle kisses from me - Fister is keeping his paws crossed for her too.

Get a good nights sleep, so you can cope tomorrow.

    Lots of ((((((hugs))))))

Slick, Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are still being sent your way. Since she's been peeing on blankets you might want to buy some puppy training pads and set them out near the litter box and hopefully she'll use them. I put them behind my litter boxes to catch pee spills in case my furkids have peed in the corner and it's leaked down the litter box. It's really helped me and may help Speckles now too. Please take care. (((HUGS)))

Tracey, excellent idea about the puppy pads! I actually bought one of those for Peanut for the trip. Just in case I misinterpreted her meows and she couldn't hold it. That happened once on our last trip and she ended up peeing in her carrier, which ran out onto the leather couch. Got it cleaned up before Terry saw it, but went and bought the puppy pads for this trip - just in case. They're like a diaper where they are absorbent on one side, but the liquid won't leak through.

Yes, Slick, I think my vet would say she's salvageable.

Hoping she had a good day and is hungry when you get home this afternoon.

She's not getting any better. I'm not giving up just yet but I don't know how much longer I should do this. She can only take a couple of steps before falling over and she seems to be having a bit of trouble breathing. She didn't eat much yesterday and I'm thinking it won't be long now. I need to get some more fluids and needles at the vet's tomorrow to I'll speak to him then about this. I just can't believe how fast this is coming on.

Slick, you'll know what is the best thing to do for precious Speckles. You are best placed to judge how she feels. Lots of love and hugs coming your way.

Of course it is not just kidney failure- it's also a kitty who would be 100 if she was a human. And we all know that even easier health problems can't be fought very well if they attack older people.

You will know best what to do and will find the right decision. And maybe Speckles will let you know whether she is ready to go. Our kitties know better than we do and can accept the end easier. It's us humans who always want to change what is unevitable.

Love, purrings and headbumpies from the boys.

Like others have said, you will know when it's time, and you will do what's best for Speckles. I'm so sad that she isn't improving better and like you say, it's all coming on so quickly.

Know that she has lived a good long life. It's because you care for her so much that she has even made it this far in life. I also know that all of this isn't much consolation for you and no matter how much you are preparing yourself for what is to come, you will be most devastated when the time comes, and I so wish I could be there for you to help you through it.

Slick, all you can do now, is keep her comfortable and make sure she's not in pain. It is heartbreaking for you to see her like that, but I know you do all you can. I also know how hard it is to let her go. Just be with her as much as you can and let her feel your love. She will tell you when it's time.

Sending positive thoughts and lots of gentle kisses to Speckles, and big ((((((hugs))))) to you.
