Ok, this is a learning experience for me. I went to the online dictionary and looked up sorrel. Shiloh's definitely that. Then, I looked up roan, and, it said chestnut, bay, or sorrel coat thickly sprinkled with white or grey. None of the horses had that...is that what you were meaning by roan? Like I said earlier, I don't know horses all that well, although I'd like to.

Shiloh looks like a red roan or a light dun. Or maybe just a chestnut...

    Dun:

    Light Chestnut:

Colors can be very difficult to grasp.

Thanks for the photos! She's definitely not a red roan, she has no white at all in her coat. Except for some on her feet (socks, maybe?). But, there's no white flecking through her coat at all. Of the three you posted, she's more chestnut...but, again, he called her sorrel, and, sorrel, according the the dictionary means "A brownish orange to light brown", so I guess chestnut and sorrel mean about the same thing.

Lol, yep! I was just loading pictures of the different colors for you but then I see that you already got the pictures. lol

This is what one of the girls that I show horses with horse looks like (red roan):

And this is a Blue Roan:

I'd have to say that Blue or Red roans are my favorite COLOR of horse. But dont ask me to chose between a Blue and a Red that would be almost impostible

Is he by chance named after Beorn in "Beorn the Proud?" (a book) LOL Ah, that's cool your step brother dressed up with Beorn too...was he Aragorn, Theoden or who was he?? lol, I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan, so I'm a little curious! hehe

    Thanks Kay!!

I don't know the answer to either of those questions, actually. I don't know who Beorn was named after (actually, I thought it was supposed to be spelled Bjorn when I heard his name pronounced, but, I saw his stall plaque). And, as for my step brother, I want to say Boromir, but, I can't be for sure. I'll ask him next time I talk to him!

Here's a front view of Allen, on Beorn. It's hard to tell, but, he's actually got a full chain mail shirt on under the suede vest thing. And, that sword is ten pounds of stainless steel. He's got an actual machete on his other hip. He really went all out, it was awesome!

Does he really? I've only seen the films once a piece. I couldn't remember the name, but, for some reason, that one popped into my head. I'm glad you saw the photo!

Wow thats a great outfit! Love the pictures. The farm dogs is a cutie!
Shilo looks like a red roan in the picture. But if you say he has no white flecks in him he might be a sorrel. Here is a pic of a sorrel since nobody has posted one. *my horsey*

Yeah, here's a closer photo of Shiloh. Definitely no white in her coat...I think she has some white socks...but, other than that...she's all the same color all over. She's not as bright as your horse, though. She's really dusty, must've been rollin' in the dirt!

does look alot like a red roan...I am very educated in horses, even if it gives a slight sorrel color, it could still be red roan. If it is darker at it's head and rear and legs and lighter on it's back and stomach and fades into the legs and rear and head, so it looks like a roan, though it could be a strawberry roan...

    Blue Roan:

Blue roan gies the impression that the color is Blue, but it is actually a light grey and dark grey, no more, no less...light greay in the middle and dark grey on the head and legs. Sometimes with red or strawberry roan it is simply a variety of colors, like the strawberry roan is only a dark and a light sorrel...and it makes it look like a strawberry red
