Don't worry, Gary. I don't have the heart to kick her little butt back outside. I'm just worried that she might have owners somewhere looking for her. If she's a feral, she's the friendliest feral I've ever seen - even lets me pick her up.

And if she doesn't have owners, well, I'll try to find her a good home, but due to a lack of funds, it won't be this one. I honestly can't afford a nearly $300 vet bill for the works.

When I go to put up a sign at the vets on Saturday, I'll take her with me to see if any techs might know who she belongs to, and I'll get some flea medication to nip that potential problem in the bud. That's really about all I can handle right now.

Nope, I already have a torbie... my goal is to collect one of each color

Is there a way you can talk to a local rescue - maybe they'd let you foster her until she gets adopted. Or maybe there is a low cost clinic out by you? I know the low cost clinics are becoming more easily available because people want to keep the feral population down.

Well, she definitely either belongs or belonged to someone to be so friendly like that. She is so pretty.

Bless you for taking her in from the cold.

I pray that you are able to find a loving forever home for her.

3???? THREE??? Oh PUHLEEZE!!!! I whined at three as well. It was all down hill from there! At one time I had 8 cats. Now I have 11, TEMPORARILY.

I have 5 of my own, a mama and 4 babies who will be leaving me once the babies are weaned (Mama has a possible home with an older gentlemen who recently lost his cat) and a cranky Lilac Point Siamese in my spare room that I'm fostering.

I said I'd never go into the double digits. But, what the hell. What's one more poop in the box.

So, come on kiddo, GO FOR IT!! Give the little girl a furrever home. You won't be sorry, I promise!

"It's just cold out, and I wanted the little loudmouth to have a warm place to sleep. And boy is she ever a talker! And she loves being petted, and isn't the least bit scared about being inside..."

Uh huh.... and where have I heard this one before? oh, yeah - ME!

I'm a 'dog person', always have been and always will be - but when this poor little kitty started stealing DOG FOOD from my garage, well i couldn't very well let hime starve, and when it dipped below 0, I couldn't leave him outside - right? And even though he still goes outside, he now thinks he's 'king' of the house and at least he's not gettin ghis ears chewed up by the big bully cats out at night......

yup - unless you find another home for her real quick - you got another kitty.

If you DO decide tokeep her and bill are tight - try what I did - call around to the animal rescues and ask for info on a deal for spaying and shots -

what I found is that for my adopted stray - I could 'give' him (as a stray) to the local private, 501C no-kill cat rescue, and immediately fill out the 'adoption' form and pay the adoption fee of $88. they would have him fixed, give him his shots, do the blood test for feline lukemia and HIV, and microchip him. I meet them at the vets that does the neuter job, ans as soon as he was out of surgery, up from the anesthesia and ready to go home, I could pick him up right from the vet and take him home ( as MINE) to recover.

    it really helps, financially.

    Good luck - she's a cutie!

    Laura

Thanks, Amanda, for the wonderful siggy and avatar!

Oh Lacey she is adorable. I agree with the others that from the looks of her ears and dirty feet she has probably been out on her own for a while. I'm so glad you brought her in. I know they are calling for snow here tomorrow night and you aren't that far away from me - and no, that doesn't mean I can take her since I'm close.

Since you are going to put up found signs at the vet maybe they can scan her for a microchip just in case.

Good luck on finding her owners if there are any or finding her a new home but I do think 3 is a good number. I had that many for a little over a year and it was a good amount.

Ah! Microchip scanning! Good idea! It would tickle me pink if I could take her in (hoping maybe the vet would recognize her) and find out she's all microchipped!

If I can get to the apartment office before the manager leaves for the day, I'll ask if they might know who owns her and if I can put some signs on the mailboxes.

The problem with Rhea Co. is that there aren't really any rescue groups (or if there are, they aren't well advertised). Just the shelter.

I know the lady at the far end of the building feeds the strays, so that may be where little Nameless here learned to be so friendly.

And Zelda and Mowgli are so very unhappy right now. Neither wanted any attention from me last night, and this morning Zelda's hissing and swatting at Mowgli when he gets close. Time for a little Rescue Remedy in the water.

You and I must think alike because we have the same goal! I keep telling my husband we need to collect the whole set.

She's a beautiful torbie; they make such interestingly colored cats. I hope you find her home soon and thanks for taking her out of the cold. It's great that you took her in while she waits for her furrever home.

Poor little girl only wanted food, and a warm bed for a while. I have a few Tee shirts from this cartoonist...one says, "It's Taken Me Years, But I Now Have One In Every Color"!

Three's a nice number! If you can't find a reasonable price for getting her spayed, there's always Friends of Animals. 1-800-321-PETS...and on the web http://www.friendsofanimals.org/cgi-bin/snrequest.cgi

    Dearest Lacey,
How do you think I ended up with 12?

She is a cutie! I think you should talk to the lady that has been feeding the strays and see if she recognizes her as one she has been feeding for awhile. If she hasn't seen her before then maybe she escaped from a loving home. If she belonged to someone and has been dumped then maybe she is already fixed. *fingers crossed*

Is the shelter in your area a "kill" shelter? If it's not then maybe you could turn her over to them. If she is that friendly she would probably be adopted quickly.

My head told me to tell you all that stuff, but my heart says that Mowgli and Zelda have a new sister!!!

Prayers coming your way that she is not the P word! She is a little *round* though!!!

Mowg monster, something tells me I'm going to be pleading your case with the warden again. I see you getting into some trouble with the newbie.

Good idea! I'll drop by to see the feeder this evening. I don't know how much she watches them - she just leaves a bowl of food out on her windowsill. And I'm desperately hoping she's not pregnant too. Maybe it's just worms, and she'll slim right up with a little Drontal.

As for the shelter, I'll have to call and see if they're kill or no-kill. I want to say that they're a kill shelter, but I'm not positive.

And I'm doing my best to not end up with her. I've tried foisting her off on a few co-workers (with no luck). And I absolutely refuse to name her because once I do that, I'm sunk. So Nameless she remains.

Lacey - I hope you find her owner or find an owner for her. I came looking at her again this morning and she sure looks like a sweetheart! Plus, you say she is so friendly and even lets you pick her up!!

I know we love to tease here about keeping her (and I would not be a bit surprised if you did )

Hopefully, Mowgli and Zelda have forgiven you today and come out for some pettings.
