    Do you think.....

Do you think if you adopt an older dog you can change his/her name? I mean, I have fallen in love with this Foxhound mix at my local shelter. But I HATE his name. He is older though so will they respond to an new name?

Absolutely. I've done it tons of times. Most of my dogs were strays who were given a shelter name or I changed their names when I adopted them. They were all adults when they arrived here, between one year and 8 years old. Heyoka was Nanook, Deuce was Bandit, Kayleigh was Cowley ect, ect.

Just teach the dog it's new name like you would a puppy. Say it all the time, every time you talk to them and reward like crazy when they respond to their new name. Dogs are smart creatures, he'll figure out his new name in not time.
If you are lucky enough to find a way of life you love, you must find the courage to live it.

Thanks. I was just wondering that. Sadly, I can't adopt him. My mom isn't fond of huge dogs.

I know. But he's a mix. So, he's pretty big and its not like I CARE how big he is. I'd take him hands down. It's always my moms fault that we can't get another dog
