As a side note, I'm very happy to be celebrating her birthday today. 13 1/2 years ago, we got Rascal, then Onyx 6 months later, then our American Eskimo mix Holly 6 months later, and finally our black lab Nikki 6 months after that. So for all these years, it was "the four". As some of you know, we went through a rough patch last year in which Rascal, Nikki and Holly all passed away. This is Onyx's first birthday without any of them (and stuck with a new brood of 3 newbies) so I feel extra glad to still have Onyx.
