New York, because it is a lot more like Chicago than CA and I couldn't stand the CA weather

I'd love to live in a place like California because of the warm weather (no snow!) and beaches. New York would be way too busy for me and I don't really like cities all that much in the first place.

California! I dunno what I'd do if I couldn't get to the beach!
Thank you Wolf_Q!
California is so expensive. But i would rather live there than in New York.
New york.
I agree, that I doubt if I could really stand the CA weather.![]()
Neither, really. But I chose California. I don't like the New York accents (sorry if anyone here has one but I've grown up around people with strong southern accents), I don't want to live where it snows, and I don't like how southern things are so foreign to them (grits, "y'all", country music). What can I say, I'm a southern belle!

California just because I've never lived in a place like that before. I've lived inland and near a major city my entire life, so I've seen all that before (though, none as busy or as big as New York, that's for sure!)
I thought we were talking about New York state not the cityOriginally Posted by Jessika
I mean if we were talking about the city I would think she would also put Los Angeles instead of California.
Both states are very big places, with varied climates, and yes, even varied accents.
I would not live in New Your City, but lots of upstate NY is nice. I wouldn't want to live in parts CA - I like my seasons more varied, thank you, but Northern CA is far different than Southern CA.
Yup! Cali is a huuge state with amazingly varied climates ranging from dry, arid deserts (the appropriately named Death Valley) to snow peaked mountains (Tahoe area). A better option would be Nor Cal vs. So Cal. It's kind of funny because Nor Cal'ers tend to think So Cal people are blonde headed beach boys while So Cal'ers think Nor Cal people are liberal hippiesOriginally Posted by Karen

DEFINITELY California. Its home sweet home for me...beautiful, mountainous, nice beaches, ski resorts, lovely weather...always mild and comfortable, nice people, diversity...I *love* California. In fact, I'd probably take California over any other state...not ONLY New York.California's climate is the best thing about it.
Ooh, I found out about Grits about a year ago, and I really like them!! Hehe, here I am trying to eat healthier and now all I can think about is grits with butter *drool*Originally Posted by .sarah

Grits, or Cream of Wheat? Bleaaah. Yecch.
We had a North Carolinian lady, Laura, who made them every year for our Palm Sunday breakfast - the Southerners adored them, the rest of us avoided them - including her Massachusetts-raised daughters!
