    Hermit Crabs

    Hi everyone

I was wondering of anybody on PT has a hermit crab.I have always been amazed by them. But I decided to do some research and I was scared of getting one due to the molting So I was just wondering if anybody owns them AND I was wondering theres lots of hermit crabs it petstores and they look kinda down/sad so do they ever molt in petstores???

Well at the moment I'm guessing not many of nobody has hermit crabs. Oh well

I don't have any, but my best friend has 5 that she's had for 3 years. I don't think she's ever had problems with them molting. You just have to do your research ahead of time, like with any animal. They aren't something you can just put in a tank and ignore (not that I think you'll do that) hermit crabs need a lot of care. They aren't easy to care for pets.

I had two a long time ago. I wasn't aware that they molted. I just knew that you had to keep other shells in with them because as they outgrew their current "home", they'd move into a new and larger unoccupied shell.

Mine never moved so they must of been full grown. I had them for a few years.
