Austin (horse) has a huge cut!!!

O no!! Look what I found today!

Sorry, he is really hairy now, from all the cold weather I have no idea what could have happened!! I got out all the hair that was stuck to it, and cleaned it, and put some ointment and spray that the vet gave me on it. I hope it heals up and he doesnt have a scar! It wouldnt be too pretty for shows! *but that is the LAST thing i'm worried about

Yes, I am pretty sure he is ok. He didnt mind me monkeying or anything with it, so I dont think it hurts him too bad. I dont know what could have caused it yet. I have to work up some courage to brave the cold weather and see if there is anything in the pasture or barn that could have caused it.

Oh no! I hope you figure out what happened to Austin! Is there any ointment or treatment you can put on the cut?

    Thanks Kay!!

I am guessing he might have got but on some wire somewhere?? Or a screw or bolt sticking out of somewhere. I have yet to find anything, I'll have to look again in the morning, its almost dark out now, and it's only 4:50
