    "Free To Good Home"

I'm sorry if this has already been posted.. I tried searching but got an error every time so if it WAS already posted, my apologies!!

I found this on another forum I post on and though you might find this interesting!!

Why Its NOT ok to "give away" your pet :
This is how some people see your "free" loved one:
-- Free bait to train fighting dogs.
-- Free bait to train greyhounds.
    -- Free fish bait.
    -- Free snake food.
-- Free food for other cultures that eat them
-- Free for animal research, they pay $180.00 per cat
-- Free sacrifice for satanic rituals.
-- Free animal for malicious pranks.
-- Free animal to insert a firecracker into.

"Free" is seen as "worthless" in the eye of the beholder. Don't offer your animals FREE to a good home, unless you don't care what happens to them.
It happened to me. Ask for ID, copy it
    Get phone numbers
Check out the home, make sure they live there
Get a vets reference, ask for a donation for the pet, tell them you will drop in to follow up on its welfare.
If someone can't afford to buy an animal, can they afford to feed & vet it?
Search "free to good home" on the internet. The stories bring tears to your eyes.
Along with the post was this link: http://www.petrescue.com/library/free-pet.htm

I know that before ever giving away any of my animals (if I were ever in a situation to do so and I know I wouldn't because I always have my parents who would be more than happy to take them if I couldn't) I would seriously do a lot of checking on any family that was interested in taking any of my pets!

The only thing that really upsets me is that people "give away" their pets every day. And its not a question of how much they WERE loved, its more a question of WILL they still be loved in their new home?? And its scary, because those scenarios aren't made up. They have REALLY happened to someone before
