Finn's first attempt at "dock diving"

Hey, everyone! My dad, Finn, and I went out to the dock and played out in the sun for a bit. Dad threw the toy (it's an air kong, a new toy for Finn), and, I **tried** to take photos. I couldn't get the timing right, though, as the camera takes a second or two to capture an image. One of the pros of a manual camera, but, ah well. But, he did fairly well, considering he didn't get a running start. I have to figure out somewhere to take him where he can run a long dock and then jump in. I want to get him a little more conditioned to it, though, so, it'll be awhile before he's really running. I'm curious to see how far he'll be able to jump! He was jumping a good six or seven feet straight off from the edge, though, and, that's pretty good, I think. Anyway, here's Finn, wearing us all out. As Glacier said in her thread about handsome Deuce, a tired dog is a good dog. I haven't heard a peep out of Finn since we got back.

so excited to run down the dock! that little square dock is what he was jumping from, and, that's my dad down at the end!

    looking handsome

he'd been jumping off the dock like a champ, but, was nervous about getting in after the air kong this time, as it was so close. he had dropped it in the lake accidentally. what a weirdo.

    more to come....

This is mostly what I kept getting, big splashes!

you can see the kong in the first one, off to the right

i like this one, as you can see the kong hitting the water at the same time as finn!

this is the only i got of him actually jumping! the kong's nowhere in sight, because it is still in mid flight!

oh, and, i forgot about this one, this is after he dropped the kong and acted like a sissy going in after it....

that's all, hopefully i'll get better ones soon! so, there you have it, maybe a future dock diver?! at least he'll be the champ of my heart, even if he never gets on espn!

Wow! Finn! You are the cutest boy I've ever seen! And it seems that you are going to be a great dock diver! Maybe you can try jumping into the lake at the park here in Myrtle Beach when you come! And teach Skye a thing or two about water!

Ha, actually, no! But, I always liked Phinneas, and, when I got a lab instead of a Pharoah Hound like I was originally considering, I just made it a little less "exotic" and made it Finneas, and, Finn just fits him better. When I looked it up, too, in a baby name site, it said it meant yellow, or yellow head. Fits him pretty well! And, he's very adventurous and mischievious like Huckleberry Finn! Besides calling him "Train," I don't think any other name would have fit him as well.

I'm so excited, I know he'll have a great time, I truly hope he and Skye will at least like eachother. I'm not asking for best friendship, just don't want any issues! He'll definitely show her what to do in the water, but, it'll be up to her to watch. Ha ha.

I'm all right with the camera, and, I take much better action shots with my manual camera. I'll definitely have to learn to time the shots with the digital, though! Practice makes perfect!

Those are great pictures. I get jealous of everyone else's dogs who like to swim. I wish mine would. I did take Maggie swimming lasy weekend and she can swim and swim fast but she has the look of death in her eyes. She swims as fast as she can to me or to the edge. If I hold her in the water she's ok. Sadie would not come near the pool I guess it's just not in their nature to swim. Finn and Kiara would have a great time in the pool. Good luck Finn on your dock diving career.
