Take them to work

I just thought I'd share this, because it's too funny-
Two ladies that I work with (both mommies) were just discussing "Take Your Daughter to Work Day". I walked by and jokingly asked them if they wanted my opinion (I have no human children), to which one of them replied, "not really, because knowing you, you're going to say that we should have a national take your PET to work day!!"
...and why not??!

I agree!! We've actually had a couple of people here where I work bring their dogs in!! Studies have shown that companies (however few there are...) that allow workers to bring their pets to work are more productive and relaxed....

It would be okay I think to take my dog Eli, and perhaps my cat Jackson in to work , but not my other two cats. Rosie and Fluffy are into everything. I would fear them getting in somewhere they should not, or being hurt by some equipment.

Years ago, when I worked at home, I sort of took my cats to work with me. Which means they were always laying across my desk, papers, manuals and calculator! I can imagine what it would be like if I brought them to work with me - the charge entry clerks would be angry with me because someone walked across the keyboard in just the right sequence and deleted some patient's charges! I have to keep placing my phone calls over because while I'm on hold, someone "bumpy heads" the phone and knocks it to the floor, and the person on the other side thinks I've hung up! No, as much as I miss them when I'm at work, I think they need to stay home.

Our boss decided to bring his new Jack Russell terrier to work every day when he first got him. Unfortunately, the puppy was not housetrained. Our new carpeting suffered terribly because the boss did not contain the dog. Little Jack was so cute we forgave him, but thought the boss should have known better. Jack continued to visit most days for about a year. Then the boss got a female Jack Russell and started bringing her, too. That got to be too many in a small office, so now they only visit occasionally.

Once in a while I bring one of my dogs to the office for a brief time, such as before a vet visit. But I would rather they were at home doing whatever dogs do and not under foot all day.

I'm retired now, but if I were working today I would love to bring either of my dogs to work. Some of the business in San Diego who welcome dogs are

Some of the stores in L.A. who welcome dogs are Crate & Barrell, Foot Locker, Laura Ashley, Gap, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and Talbots Petites.

I do believe many business are realizing that pets are important in the lives of people who have them, they are family. For instance, there are many hotels who take pets in who would never consider doing that in the last few years.

Since I am fortunate to work from an office in my home, mine are with me at work. But they choose not to stay in my office, rather they are out in the family room or living room lounging on the furniture. When I first got Tucker, he would stay right by my chair, but as he got more secure that I wasn't going to disapear on him, he would venture out in the other room to where Hannah was. Now I rarely see either of them during the day, unless one of them has to go outside and will come to get me.

There is a dog who comes to the office every day, a cat who sometimes comes for the day when an allergic person isn't working, and the only bad thing is trying to pretend one is a professional on the phone when there is a dog barking madly in the background because someone rang the doorbell! I do think it depends on the pet!

I think I would just tell them you work right next door to a veterinarian!!!!!!!

I don't think I would put them through it;I find it difficult to cope with some of the people in my office I don't think they should suffer as well .

And I don't think I would be able to get much done...
