That's very generous of you to offer help for any orphaned babies. I'm sure there are some out there that could use the help. Have you contacted your local shelter to see if they need the help? Shelters with an orphaned litter that is too young to adopt out will put them down if they don't have help, so act quickly.

Will your lab be spayed I hope? As easily as this tragic miscarriage occured, there could be worse complications next time. Or maybe she wasn't meant to be a mom.

yes, she will be spayed..in fact, if she doesn't go into labor by thursday (which is two days late) we have to do a section and they will spay her at the same time. Jessica is a champian labrador with an amazing termperment. People have come from all over the country to have her puppies - this her last - she had one successful litter prior to this so there shouldn't have been issues - anyway..yes, i have contacted the shelters and hopefully we can help some poor orphans.

  4. A wonderful thing you are doing for the poor puppies with no mama's! Is there some way you can save the milk and give it to shelters or such and then they could put it in bottles for later cases just in case!

I have never heard of that - I could ask around - it's not easy having that much milk and not be able to have some emptied..I need everyone's prayers...we only have 10% chance that the this puppy could be alive..if she doesn't go into labor soon if off for a section on Thursday..

I hope everything works out for the best for you. This could be that one miracle pup that makes it.

I wonder if a dog will stand still long enough to be milked?

Saving the milk and donating it to a shelter is a nice idea, but the shelters' usually won't take care of a litter that has to be bottle fed because they "don't have the time or resources" to do it. But to have a lactating mom available, will give any shelter pups a better chance. I wish I had one a few months ago. I don't ever want to have to bottle feed puppies again Talk about work!

Well, humans do Pump breast milk

In any event, thank you for the note..yes, I know that there is not time or resources for puppies - sad state of affairs. No one has responded about jessica being a surragate mom..

today is the day though, she goes in for c section because she is late and not going into labor - if the puppy is alive, i will register him/her as 'SURVIVED BY A MIRACLE". I'm a wreck over this.
