my aquarium has been empty for a while and yesterday i decided to get a could gold fish to test it out. after getting them used to the water and stuff, i scooped out my fish and watched them swim around for a bit. then i notticed something odd... millions of tiny little snails had overthrown my 20 gallon tank!!!!... how on earth do i get rid of these little menises, and what could have caused them??

Did you get any live plants for the tank? Because a lot of the plants carry snails on them.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you can do to get rid of them. Whatever kind of snail that is multiplys a lot. If you did buy real plants, you might want to get rid of them because there could be eggs on them. I think when my old tank had that problem, my dad did a full water change and just bought new gravel and fake plants. But if you don't want to do the full water change, try looking online and see if there is anything else you can do.

Snails aren't really a nuisance... they clean the walls of the tank and such, and personally, they are fun to watch. When it comes to cleaning the tank, that's when you'll lose a couple.

I wouldn't get rid of the snails you already have. Just get rid of the plants you have, they are most likely the problem. As ILoveMyAbbyGirl said, they will keep the walls of your tank clean. Plus their fun to watch How big are the snales and how big are the Gold fish? We put several small snales in our tank and the Goldfish just ate them. Hopefully you manage to stop the snail infestation :P
