My puppy

Even though she is wagging her tail she acts really mean, she is half Siberian Huskey and half Pitbull. She is 4 months old, she is my life I love her. Does anyone have any tips on training her. Has anyone heard of that mix before? I can't find anything online about that mix. Please help! If you want my email addy it is [email protected] thanks!

What does she do that seems mean? My Rottweiler "talks" to us all the time, she wags her tail and makes a howly, growly, barky noise. I can't really explain it but is that what you mean. Or is she actually growling in a vicious way?

That is probably just her style of playing. Just don't let her hard bite...I broke Gracie by saying "no bite" in just a couple of days..they really want to do that biting thing at that age..

I think your dogs response is a normal thing with pit bulls I have a german shepherd pit bull mix and when she wants to play she gets in the play position sticks up her hair and viscously growls. Because of this I can only let her play with other pit bull pit bull mixes that do the same or the golden lab type dogs that really don't care and still wanna play.. but most dogs and people get confused and think she is mean but she would never hurt anything she actually babysits my guinea pigs when I'm away...

also another thing I noticed about pit bulls is that they are very conscious of what there owner is feeling and if you are nervous or anxious or scared she may be growling at the other person in response to you thinking she is protection you but at the same time my dog does this and still wouldn't hurt that person.

o' and just a tip seeing you have a pit bull mix I do encourage you to get lots of bones for her to chew on.. and don't let her tear apart her stuffed toys.. play tug of war only with the rope... and catch with stuffed toys and balls...

tail wagging is not always indicative of a happy puppy. dogs that are about to attack wag their tails. i would have you describe the wag . . . is it slow or fast? where is the tail held, high, level or low? are the hackles up? is body posture tilted forward or back? what's the look of the face -- showing teeth? lip curled? hard stare?

She has her but up in the air, with tail wagging fast, like happy, and she puts her head down, on the floor with her paws right by her face and she barks and growls, and she looks at my parents with her face on the floor with her eyes looking up at them. To me it is playing mode, but she bites hard, and she won't come up to my parents easily, she barks and gets scared of them. She has better approch when you are down at her level. Or when you have atreat in your pocket. Ha! You know what I hate, but I think it is cute, when I'm trying to walk down the stairs she trys to bite my toes and my socks, and she walks in front of me, and she has to stop on every step to make sure I'm right behind her. She is playing with my sisters dog right now, they are like sisters, they love each other, my sisters dog is Austrailian Sheperd German Sheperd. She is 2 years old, my sister and her husband took her out of an abusive home into there's, this guy always punched Mona in the top of the head, and was teaching his 5 year old daughter to do the same, or he would kick her, and Nicole and Kory could not handle him abuseing her so they offered to take her. Or they would call someone on him, so he really had no choice. They should of called on him anyway. Scumbag! Anyway, I wish I could post a picture here but I don't know how can someone tell me?

okay so it does seem as if she is in a play bow and wants attention. my guess is that she never learned bite inhibition so she doesn't know to control her mouth. you need to teach her that she can control how hard she bites. when she bites inappropriately -- immediately withdraw all attention for 5 minutes. don't look at or speak to her. just get up and leave. she will learn play too hard = no more play. you have to do it everytime tho and your parents too.

for the stairs i suggest you teach her to wait. wait until you are up or down and then you give a command like up or down or whatever will mean okay you may come up/down stairs now.

Thankyou, I would have never thought about doing that. I could always use your tips if you would like to give them. Also I tryed to send my puppy's picture to pet of the day, and it was a failure to deliver, do you know why? They said there is no one site by that name. Thankyou again!
