    A friendly reminder

A friendly reminder to newbies and oldies alike:

Please remember to type words all the way out, rather than using a lot of abbreviations, like u instead of you, ppl instead of people and things like that. It also is helpful if you use capitalization and punctuation properly.

This is a site with people of all ages, and from all over the world, and so not everyone grew up speaking English. It is only polite to make things as readable as possible for everyone.

We are all here because we loooove our pets - and sometimes that is all we have in common!

I agree Karen! I can't stand when people will write out in slang, But it's okay, for aim, and such.

    I agree....although it doesn't bother me, it's still a good idea.

does that mean instead of writing *example* PTers we should write Pet Talkers?

    Or pics- pictures?

Writing in slang doesn't bother me to an extent, but what really gets on my nerves is when people use run-on sentences. Like "I went on a walk I saw a dog and it was cute he was so nice he gave kisses and didn't even bark I wish I had a dog like that boy that'd be cool." I can't tell where something ends and something starts, and it's extremely confusing for me to read.
    I've been BOO'd!

Thank u 4 reminding us how 2 write.

Sorry, Karen, I just couldn't resist!

Seriously, thanks for the reminder. It is a good practice for everyone to write well - most situations in life require it.

I think PT for Pet Talk is regularly used but you need to remember new people may feel left out is they don't understand some phrases.

Personally I wouldn't use the phrase pics ...pictures isn't hard to spell I'm a very poor speller.

I don't like it when I see "internet slang" on boards. It gets on my nerves.

I guess it's the teacher in me, but, most of the slang makes me nuts too. Thanks Karen and Paul. You guys are the best!
