Hilary, your crate should be just big enough for them to sleep and rest. You shouldn't feed the pup in the crate. Their natural instincts will keep them from elimaniating where they sleep. I would stay away from "cheaper food." I startedf Max on Puppy chow, now he eatrs Sceince Diet and Eukenauba Large breed, since he's a horse. lol!! Try and get you dog in a routine, Wake up, take the pup out, feed take back out, play a little, crate him/her, take out, feed, take out, and the same with dinner. If you go to Yahoo search and type puppies, there are many good articles. I would also recomend Dogs for Dummies, i bought it go figure and it is very informative. Good luck and we need pics.
