    PetMate Water Fountain

I'd like to know if anyone here, who has the PetMate Water Fountain, has noticed that the water well runs empty pretty fast. Maybe it's just me. Just curious.

Do you have one of those bottles you attached to the back of the fountain.

If you do , I think the water should last about a week, depending on the number of cats. But with 7 cats it might need filling daily.

PS. We're waiting to buy a fountain, next payday.

I have to refill the fountain daily with five cats.

They love to drink from that thing!

We have two of them and have to clean them out and refill about every other day or so. Sometimes we get 3 days out of them. However, I have two of them that like to play in the water. So they get lots of hair and litter in them. But it is still better and they have fresher water than they did with just bowls. And the water intake went up considerably which is good for the kidneys.

We have the Drinkwell brand with the 6 cup reservoir and I clean it out, refill it once a week or so (more often when Cassy goes swimming).

I have learned that it promotes evaporation even when the cats aren't present. (We all went on a vacation and I forgot to unplug it. Got home just in time to hear the last feeble noises as the motor burned itself out. Big time EEEK!!! No body was hurt, no fire thank heavens... realatively cheap to replace motor ($15?))

At any rate, there is a lot less static electricity around the house with the fountain... for what it's worth.

    PayItForward,

I believe you're thinking of the Drinkwell Fountain. This is a PetMate Fountain. The reservoir is smaller.

    Denyce,

I have to clean mine out once a week. They don't play in it but it does catch alot of cat hair.

    Noahsmommy,

With 7 cats, I've noticed that I have to refill it every other day. I usually fill the "well" when I'm lazy and don't feel like filling the reservoir. My cats really love it! I keep other bowls of water out as well, but they seem to gravitate to the fountain. That's a good thing!

I haven't used mine in a long time, but I do remember that it did need filling often.

does anyone have any idea where I could find a cordless fountain?

I have the Drinkwell Fountain with the 6 cup reservoir. I only need to fill it once a week. I do this after I've cleaned it. Sunny loves to drink out of it. Cirrus and Storm use it sometimes but Sunny loves it. Here's a picture of my funny Sunny.

I have the PetMate fountain. Seven cats = filling it once a day. Course I think they drink alot more now than they did with plain bowls too!

Don't they make a water fountain for dogs too? Any ideas of the cost?

I have a large non-spill bowl that holds a *lot* of water, but it gets kind of gross at the bottom, I'd like something that holds a lot of water but keeps it fresher.
