    New trick?

Okay, I have taught Mickey a number of tricks but I don't know what to teach next. I know he doesn't know much but I don't wanna go from "sit" to balancing things on his nose. Any suggestions of some easy, "basic" tricks to start with? Thanks

ps - He knows sit, stay, lie down, high five, paw, wave, jump, up and down.

Jewels know, sit, stay, lay down, paw, up, spin, and walk.

so spin: isnt hard to teach. He just spins around in a circle!

walk: hops forward on his hind legs

I think like Aly said, "crawl" would be a simple trick to teach!

Is Mickey very good at holding still? Can he calm down easily? He may need to be a little older to teach the "balancing treats" trick, but who knows! First I'd start with teaching him "wait."

Foxy knows: sit, down, stand, stay, come, up and down.
I think stand might be a good one. When you say stand he has to stand on all four legs. Trainers say that the best time to use stand is during walking. When your dog responds to stand why don't you tell him to stay while standing. If he can do a sit and down stay a stand stay should not be that hard to teach him.
    GOOD LUCK

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have tried to teach Mickey "spin" before but he didn't get it. How about crawl? How do you teach that one?

    How about speak?

    ~Rachel
If you're listening to this song
You may think the chords are going wrong
    But they're not
We just wrote it like that

When you're listening late at night
You may think the band are not quite right
But they are, they just play it like that

It doesn't really matter what chords I play
What words I say or time of day it is
As it's only a Northern song

It doesn't really matter what clothes I wear
Or how I fare or if my hair is brown
When it's only a Northern song

    If you think the harmony
Is a little dark and out of key
    You're correct, there's nobody there

And I told you there's no one there

    Rachel,

I would like to teach him speak but he's not a barker at all so I don't know how I would get him to bark so I could teach him the trick *welcome to pet talk*

Nebo is not a barker at all either but he knows speak. I just barked myself like an idiot and if I heard as light woof or attempt at barking at me...click/treat...took a while, but he's great at it now!

So me barking will get him to bark? I guess I could try it. I'll just lock myself up in my room with him for awhile so word doesn't get out Thanks

    gkristan,

When I say "stand" he stands on his two back legs. (I guess I forgot to mention he knew that one) When I say 'up' he gets up on all fours or jumps. I guess its kinda the same

    None

I say you teach it nothing. Let the dog be. He/She's not there for your entertainment, but to love and be loved.
