    Good bye, old friend!

Right beside our house, we had a giant red oak tree. Very beautiful, about 100 years old, about 80 feet tall.
Unfortunately, over the years, there were more and more dead limbs. Just recently, about 3 weeks apart, some fell on one of our cars, and several were hanging above the house and the drive way.
With a heavy heart, we decided it was time to let the tree go.
We had a terrific crew. The tree was down within two days, and they did a marvelous cleanup job!
Dear tree, I so much hated to see you go. I will miss your shade, but not the tons of leaves in the fall.

Aww, did you keep a slice of it for a table or something? What a grand old tree, too bad its time had come.

    What a lovely old friend!
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

I wish we could have kept one, but it was way too big. We kept a log for the garden.

It's always sad to see a huge tree like that go. There were some as big as that in the cemetery near me, a few have been cut down, even one near John's grave that I really liked. That tree was part of my decision to choose the spot.

Possibly an adornment in a big planter, or support for a climbing plant.
