    Honeybun.... is HOME!!!

Afraid that tomorrow will be the last day with my Honeybun. He has a horrible URI infection, tumors in his mouth, and now he is having trouble walking/standing up. Need to get him to the vet tomorrow, was going to go in for the URI this week, but the sudden not walking well makes it an ASAP visit. I'm so worried. Please say some prayers for my sweet, old man cat. Thank you!

The vet visit went remarkably well. Of course Honey didn't limp at all . He does have a really bad upper respiratory infection, he's very dehydrated, and we're not sure why he was/is limping.

The vet, one I was not familiar with actually, was very kind and good with Honey. Palpated all over and was very compassionate. She ordered a senior blood panel, a urine sample (which they couldn't get because his bladder was sooo tiny because he's dehydrated), and put him on clavamox drops for the next 10 days. They also did sub q fluids so he's not so dehydrated. Hope that's not something he'll be needing too much of, because I don't think I could do it here at home. I nearly passed out watching her put the needle in!

I'm hoping this will help him and that I'll have him around for a while yet. I'm still worried about the limping, it's so strange that he didn't do it at all at the vet, yet he dragged his back leg while here at home for the past 24 hours! Frustrating!!

Keep my boy in your prayers. We get the blood results tomorrow. Hoping he's not really sick, and that this is just a little set back.

I'm thinking all the good PT vibes worked.........so far! Let's keep them coming so Honeybun can get a clean bill of health.

I didn't think I could do sub-q's either. But I did them for Taz and now it's no big deal. Now I give my mom and brothers dogs their shots. So much cheaper.

Please give Honeybun some loves from me! I'm so happy he is home and seems to be on the road to recovery.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

I'm so glad to hear this, Jen. They like to scare us and then rally. LOL As for the subQ's, you'd be surprised what you can do when you have to. I bawled my eyes out when I had to give my first one to Puddy. I jabbed myself and drew blood, the needle came out of Puddy and squirted fluid all over the place and I called my vet crying. He told me to bring her in and he'd show me again. After that, it was a piece of cake. Then later I had to give her shots and that was so simple that I was surprised. You can do it if you have to, girl. But right now, just enjoy your time w/Honeybun and give him lots of love from me and the Fur Posse.
    Blessings,
    Mary

My vet called me last night and told me the results of the Senior blood panel that was done on Honeybun.

He's as healthy as an ox considering all the rest that is going against him!! Thyroid is great, no diabetes, his white count was a little low she said, but other than that, it was wonderful. Now to get a video of him limping if he won't do it at the vet office. Wish I could do that, but not sure if I can get it or not. I think at the vet's office, it was "fight or flight" that got in to him and he just went ZOOM!!! and took off to where ever he could feel safe. He's still limping here at home. Still hiding out. But I manage to get ahold of him where ever he's at and give him scritchies and then get ahold of him to give him his meds and then a big bowl of chicken!! He seems to forgive me after the chicken giving, lol.

If I can get a video, and show it to the vet and get an answer, or if he gets worse with the limping, and I take him back to the vet, I'll let everyone know what the prognosis is. I'm hoping the clavamox kicks in and gets the URI under control. Poor boy sneezes 15 times in a row some times!

I'm so glad to hear that his blood work results are normal. Now hopefully clavamox will help him feel better soon. When my Sky would make funny breathing noises, I had to video tape these too because he wouldn't do it at the vets. Hopefully you'll be able to get his limping on video and I hope it's nothing serious. He remains in my thoughts and prayers.
