Pouncer's taken a turn for the worse

My little boy may have a stone. He won't get out of the litterbox and is very unhappy. The vet gave him the crystal reduction diet and more meds. If he doesn't improve within 2 weeks, he'll need Xrays and another surgery.

He's so unhappy and absolutely miserable. He is passing pee, just little dribbles. He's in the box most of the day. by the end of the day, he's emptied his bladder but a drip at a time.

The vet said the diet should reduce the stone (if thats what it is) enough for him to pass. He is not blocked, since the surgery makes his "outlet" big enough to have crystals pass. but stones? my poor little boy

Anyone experience stones? I would appreciate lots of prayers for him.

    Cranberry treats

Have you tried the cranberry treats yet? I heard they help with urinary problems. Don't know where you might buy them locally. It can't hurt. I bought mine on line. I don't buy them anymore, as the one cat that had the problem is no longer with me, but all my cats just loved them.

Sorry to hear your boy is having such problems. Ugh. It can be so frustrating.

    Keep us posted.

We are going back to the (again) this morning. Last night was miserable for both of us. I'm going to get x-rays done of his bladder now instead of waiting. Even though the vet said he's NOT blocked, his meowmie has a different feeling, and she learned long ago to trust those feelings.

Prayers for Pouncer this morning! Kim, your gut feeling about Pouncer is right, I bet - you know that baby better than anyone. More prayers for a good outcome and good sleep for you both.

The link KAK posted is very informative, and Fister has been through this years ago, so I glad you decided to take him for an X-ray. It really is painful and can be fatal if he's not treated in time.

What makes the vet think that a diet will solve it? That could take ages. He should at least be flushed through!

Fister and I are sending lots and lots of positive thoughts for Pouncer.

Several years ago I had a foster that had surgery for bladder stones. What they got out of that poor cat! I hope Pouncer feels better and you get the right treatment for him.

Yes, you definitely know your babies better than the vet. I hope they can figure out what is going on and get it fixed quickly. I'll be checking back for an update later this morning.

Ok, so meowmie was wrong. BUT she was right in that her boy was still very sick. They have him on some serious pain meds, steroids, and an amped up dose of Clavimox. I might have to add Baytril to the Clavimox because the infection is so bad. He has a little cone on his head ( which he's not happy about) and he's isolated to Cameron's room. His pee was very bloody. At least there's no blockage.

The reason? Stress. We're going to retest him in two weeks and once he's off the serious meds they might start kitty Prozac as a permanent treatment.

Stress? In my house? Oh, yeah, thats right! Even his hooman had her Prozac dosage doubled this past week.
