A new furry family member -Leo

As some of you know we recently were saddened by the loss of the little poodle we had "shared" while we lived in China. She was especially attached to my husband and he was devastated by her death. So I decided to heed Freedom's post about a Dog's Will and find another pooch who needs a new home and lots of love. The very same day on the internet I found Leo whose family were having to move and could not take him with them. They had acquired him from an old lady in their building who had died in hospital when he was 4 months old and now he is 13 months old so still a puppy! As soon as he saw my husband he gave a little woof and took a flying leap straight into his arms and licked his face! Love at first sight both ways!

They said he was a poodle (like Fifi) but I am not so sure, he weighs just less than 20lbs and seems broader and more solid than Fifi did. Not that it matters of course -- he comes with his own love and we are not worried what he is. I will ask the vet when we take him for his first check up on Monday morning.

He sat on my knee all the way home in the car and loved it! He has since formed a great attachment to my husband and follows him everywhere including to bed, lol. I am sure Fifi found him for us from the bridge!

Awww, Leo is adorable!! I was at a party tonight and there was a little poodle there. She looked a lot like Leo, but she had just been groomed today, so her snout looked longer. He could just be a bigger poodle...maybe?

I love how he immediately attached to your husband. That is wonderful!
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

What a beautiful post. I have never heard of the Dog's Will before - I'm quite sure there is also one for cats

May you all have a wonderful life together

Welcome Leo. I'm pretty sure that Fifi pointed you in the right direction. May you have a long and happy life in your new home.

I think I see some Bichon in that cute little poodle body of yours too. Whatever your ancestors were, YOU are 100% adorable.

Welcome to Pet Talk Leo and welcome to a new loving family! I agree with that poem. It takes nothing away from the furkid you lost. You still love them, you still miss them, it still hurts. Having a new furkid to love, helps to heal your broken heart.

Thanks everyone! Leo has settled into our family so well and is helping to mend our hearts.

I thought he may have a little Bichon in him too, Pomtzu, but not knowing any bichons except on PT I am no expert I intend to take to be groomed, especially around the face, as soon as I have asked around to find a good and kind one in my area.

Well, I am off to take him for a walk now... hew is very enegetic and it takes a lot to tire him out! He just loves having a great big grassy yard to to go "zoomies" in though; it is fun just watching him chasing around with his ears flying backwards!
