Erik was unwell last week.. now has sore

Last week he was reclusive, kept liking himself (parts) and walked around hunched over and with tail down. He had been trying to vomit a few days before this and was also hissing at the other cat. After furball meds, began responding to petting, slept with again, etc. He is now feeling better, but I noticed a sore on his hind end. All the fur is gone and there is an open wound. Perhaps due to overgooming?

Should I get him to the vet tomorrow?

Just so you know.. Erik has an appointment tomorrow at the vet - couldn't get away from work today and they didn't have anything after 5pm. I did describe the sore and his past behavior. I'll keep everyone posted. Keeping a close eye on him tonight.

Back from vet. Abscessed anal gland/s. He got quite a bit out of the one.. and some out of the other. Antibiotics and recheck in 3 weeks.

Wow, poor Erik must have hurt! Glad he is on the mend and I hope the antibiotics kick in quickly.

Oh dear, that must have been painful for the poor boy! I'm so glad that you took him to the vet and got it taken care of. Good job! Now he'll heal quickly and nicely.

Erik is the black one, Christine is the gray/white. They are named after characters from Phantom of the Opera.
