    Snookie

I was so moved reading Snookie's story.

When I was a teenager, my mother found a cat near the house of a friend she was visiting. He was crying his heart out, and when my mother located him and picked him up, he clung to her. She asked around, but no one seemed to know who that cat belonged to, or indeed if he belonged to anyone, so she brought him home. He looked to be about 7-8 months old.

Right away we noticed something strange about the cat. he ignored our parakeet, and would sometimes stand in the hall and just stare at the wall. When we took him to the vet for a checkup, after deciding to keep him, we found out the reason for his somewhat peculiar behavior -- he was blind. The vet thought he had some kind of inherited condition, where the retina had been deteriorating since birth.

Anyway, we kept the cat, now named "Jaune Tom" after the character in the 1962 animated feature "Gay Purree." He was an extraordinary cat -- supersonic hearing, and he seemed to know where everything was in the house once he got acclimated. We had him for many years. Reading about Snookie brought him back to me.

Hello there, Snookie! What a sweet girl you are. The fact that you can't see, doesn't stop you, does it! I bet your hearing are far better developed than most other kitties'.

I was smiling when I read how you make sure to get attention by putting little crinkle balls into you purrents shoes, and you have the cutest way of waking them up, too. I'm so glad you found a loving family who will spoil you and be there for you always.

Have fun today, and make sure to get some extra treats and cuddles. I wish you a long, healthy and happy life!
