Personally I find it sad when people shut the bedroom door on their pets at night. Usually we are away all day at work and they miss us, and then they are faced with a closed door at night. This is why they cry - often they just want to be able to see us, check on us, not even necessarily sleep on the bed (or in the bed) with us. I sleep with my door open and my cats have always come for a little while but usually have their own place they prefer in another room. It just gives them peace of mind to be able to see "their people" and relaxes them so that they will sleep better during the night.

Thanks everyone for your kind words about Keenu! He does indeed have a big personality and please don't worry about him not sleeping with us at night. He starts out in our room but wants out soon and spends the night wandering around the house. However, as soon as the alarm goes off in the morning, he is outside our door wanting in and is very vocal about it! We let him as soon as we know he is there.

He does like going out for "walks" on his leash and harness but he spends most of that time sniffing rather than actually walking. He is still a little spooked about being outdoors so our trips rarely take us beyond the front of the house. The walking harness is a good idea though and he seems to like exploring the outside.

This is a great site and forum- thanks so much for hosting it!

What a sweet little face you have Keenu! And you're orange too; there's just no end to your cuteness. I hope you enjoy your walks outside on the leash, it's much safer than running loose. A couple of my cats sleep on the bed with me but having all fifteen of them in the bedroom would be too much! You are a wonderful COTD, Keenu and my wish for you is that you enjoy many years of health and happiness with your family who love you so much.
