    CT Scan

Has anyone had a CT Scan of the head/brain? Due to a coughing fit which brought on a sudden and drop-me-to-my-knees severe headache back in October, my doctor has ordered a CT Scan for me. I scheduled it for next Thursday, the 10th. I'm trying my best not to get freaked out, but she used the word aneurism. If she had just said "get this done" I probably would be ok, but now I'm really kind of nervous....so has anyone had one?

Yes, I've had one about 5 years ago. I had a headache that stayed with me for about 2 weeks so my GP ordered a head CT scan. Honestly, it's nothing and takes about 5 min. Mine turned out to be nothing and soon after the scan, my headache disappeared. Typical.....

Please don't worry. Your doctor is doing a good thing by ordering the scan. It's better to know than not. Like mine, it will probably return positive results.

    Fingers crossed for you.

I have a hearing impairment in my right ear and went to a specialist. He ordered as CT scan and it was loud but no big deal. Turns out I have an "unidentifiable inflammation".

I've had an MRI of my head due to dizzy spells several years ago. Not sure how the procedures differ, but the MRI wasn't bad. The worst part was not moving. You always get an itchy nose when you're told not to move.

I hope your CT scan comes back good and your headache goes away soon.

MRI's are noisy but CT Scans you don't hear anything. The only thing you might want to ask them is to make sure you aren't allergic to isotope dyes before they inject it in you. I had a very bad reaction to the dyes so they never use them now. Ct Scan is more boring than anything.

I had one two weeks ago, and a couple previously YEARS ago. You'll be a-ok. And if there is a problem, you'll know and be able ot do something about it.
