    Hoarders

I wasn't sure where to post this so if it is in the wrong place, feel free to move it.

There is a show on A&E called Hoarders. Last night's episode was horrific. There was a woman who had hundreds of cats and clutter in her home. She was forced to leave her home while animal control came in and collected the cats. They found skeletons and dead bodies of cats in the garage. I was appalled but also felt badly for this woman. She obviously has problems. It is so sad to think that someone's life can get to this point before the get help.

Has anyone else watched this show?

I can't watch the show for the simple reason that it makes me feel bad for the people who hoard animals. It's not animal cruelty by any means. It's a well meaning person who feels that they are helping the animals by giving them a roof over their head and food. With the MANY cats in one place, there is bound to be illnesses that will spread, and the hoarder doesn't have the funds to take them to the vet.

It's sad and it's a very real issue. It's not the hoarders fault. It's just they get so overwhelmed, they don't know what to do.

And the sad fcat is that mentally distrurbed people , although a rarity make it possible for the beauriocrats to limit the number of Pets you can have, even when the Pets are well cared for and in a good situation.

I feel badly for those Poor Cats and I pray as many can be helped as possible

I can't watch that show even when its just random junk they are hoarding. Can't deal with all the clutter and stuff. Glad I missed the cat episode though. I agree its well meaning, but the result is just not so.

I think I saw that episode. Didn't they find like 35 dead cats.... and a (live) skunk?

I actually watch the show because it inspires me not to get attached to things. The cat episode was more than I could handle though. I was so angry that after they collected the cats, they just euthanized them all! I can't believe that out of all those cats, not one was saved.
Watching the episode with the woman who hoards food, I had to pause mid-episode, get up and empty my fridge and scrub it till it shined! Freaked me out

I can't watch the show either. AT first I couldn't watch because my mom was still alive and she was a hoarder. It was too painful. Also, I am not a big fan of reality TV. We've become voyeurs and let others make money off of our troubles.

I will occasionally watch cop shows and some animal shows.

I'm not a neat person and I do love stuff, but not a hoarder. (It might run in the family.) I have to clean and have things in their place. It just doesn't take place on a daily basis.

As for cats, I like having an even number. I had been hoping a pair of black and white kitties would show on my doorstep. I've never adopted because of my LUCK: as soon as it happened, another one would show on my doorstep, so I waited. No B&W yet but I do love Emily, Bob, and Callie.

After Bertie/Bella, I thought no more, but Calla Lily showed and the others seemed to accept her and she wanted in. She knew I had other cats.

I wish they would get these people help instead of making money off of their trials.
