I just heard on the Phila news, that a man was found dead in the compactor section of a trash truck early this a.m.
It was determined that he was a homeless person that had crawled into a dumpster to sleep last night, and the dumpster was later emptied into the trash truck and then compacted.
I think I'd rather get hit by a train. It's faster!!

Richard shame on you.. Tacky Tacky.. It would be a horrible way to die.. I guess it was warmer in the dumpster than the park bench.. I would think the smell would be awefull.. But then again what did the man smell like.. RIP Mr. Homeless..

Like most of the other "homeless" you see on the streets of Philadelphia, he was probably passed out dead drunk, which would explain why he didn't hear the trash truck.He musta been sleeping pretty darn hard not to hear a garbage truck coming.

I was on a CTA train - sitting in the first car. Train was pulling into the Loyola station. Hit a man on the tracks.I think I'd rather get hit by a train. It's faster!!
It has been probably 20 years but I still remember the sound and -- the smell.
RIP to him and the poor guy in the dumpster...

My ex was with Amtrak Police for about 20 years before he retired, and in that span of time, of course investigated many incidents of people/cars/train encounters. Pictures always had to be taken, and when we split up, there were a lot of things he left behind that he didn't deem necessary to take with him. In later years, when I was going thru a box of pictures that he asked me to find for him, I came across some of his accident scene pics. Very horrifying, to say the least.
