No Shoes, No Shirt? No Baby?!?!?!

A six month old baby was bounced from Burger King restaurant for not having shoes on.

The manager of the store told the mom that she could order, but it would have to be To-Go/Carry out/Take Away because the child had bare feet.

I laughed at this because I would get tossed out on my ear if I didn't have shoes on.

    -------------------------------------

When I was a kid I was with my mom and we went into a bank. I was tall enough to grab the edge of the counter, pull myself up and rest my chin on the counter.

My mom told me not to do that, SHe said that women would sit small children on the counter!!!
As I grew older I began to notice that people will do that in restaurants too!

God Bless small children-they have no control over what their parents do-but I have to agree with the manager. In this day and age no company, business or homeowner can take the chance, however small, at someone getting injured, ill or 'traumatized' on the premises.

I also do not like it when people sit a child's carrier on a table in an eatery. If there is no room, that is fine.

But more than often I have seen people take a child out of a carrier and sit them on the edge of a table. I know that the employees give the area a sursory swipe with a wet towel, can we really be sure the area is 100% safe to eat off of?

Isn't that kinda ridiculous? The six month old is not doing much walking is he/she? Why would those little feet be unsanitary? Was it done for reasons other than that? Are they afraid the baby will try to walk and step on something? I am really perplexed--more than usual.

I guess we would have been 'bounced' from many a places. J didn't wear any shoes until he was walking- 11 months. Seems like a strange thing for the manager to do. Prolly more to the story than we are hearing about.

I could see it being an issue if the child was standing on the counter, but just being held in his mother's arms or in a sling or carseat/carrier...seems a bit much. I don't plan to put Clara in shoes until she's walking. Socks, maybe! But, I also won't be standing her on tables or counters, either, as I find it a bit unsanitary.

My kids were born in April and July, and they very rarely even had socks on until it got cold outside like in November.....Doctors want most babies to go barefoot!! Also, when you have those playlands, you are goinna have older kids wandering around without shoes on....back and forth from the table to the toys....

Sometimes it depends on the child too. Some babies absolutely hate having anything on their feet. I did put socks on Ty when out in public (especially in the winter, brr!) but we didn't really do shoes until he was walking.
