Summer of the butterflies (more pics #20)

This year, there seem to be tons of butterflies outside, much more than usual!

During my lunchbreak, I had the chance today to take some pictures of a few of them:

Thought you may enjoy these beautiful animals!

Wow! Just remarkable photography. The butterfly's wings (in the first and last pictures especially) look like stained glass.

    Beautiful, Kirsten!

I'm going to forward to my mom - she raises and releases butterflies here in Florida.

Beautiful! What type of camera do you have again? Isn't it just amazing when you look at all of the colors and patterns in a butterfly?

Awesome bug photography! What kind of camera do you use, macro filter lenses or just on macro mode?

    Very pretty!!

There have been a lot more here locally too. A couple of summers ago, you barely saw one, and now I see at least 3 a day.

    Hi Kirsten,

What kind of flower is that they the butterflies are sitting on - is it some kind of heather? My mom wants to know to see if she can grow it here in Florida. She absolutely looooooooved the pictures!

The famous photographer-artist Man Ray didn't like to be asked what camera he used. He said "You wouldn't ask Leonardo what kind of paintbrush he used."
What I want to say is that even if I had Kirsten's camera I would still make my usual semi-unsharp pictures.
It is the eye of the photographer and her calm hand which makes them so special- and they truly are

Of course a good camera can add to that- if you are already a photographer. I bow in admiration and know I'm not

Thanks, Barbara - and everyone else!

Must be some kind of thistle, I think... Anyway, the butterflies seem to love them! Glad your mother enjoyed the pics!

    Here are some more! :-)

Wish I could tell you the names of the different kinds, but I hardly know them in German.
