    Snowzilla Rises Again!

Anchorage's famous giant snow man, Snowzilla, finally met its match.

It wasn't the weather. It wasn't angry neighbors bearing shovels and pick axes.

It turns out Snowzilla's biggest foe -- the one who felled the controversial but much-loved giant -- was a notice-bearing city code enforcement officer.

    That's right, Snowzilla was abated.

    Snowzilla is no more.

Municipal officials in Anchorage have given a cease-and-desist order to builders of the giant snowman that made appearances the last three years in an east Anchorage neighborhood.

The giant snowman was a favorite for photographers and camera crews from Russia and Japan filmed the temporary sculpture.

Snowzilla in 2005 rose 16 feet. He had a corncob pipe and a carrot nose and two eyes made out of beer bottles.

Snowzilla the giant snowman rose from the dead Tuesday morning after some holiday pranksters thumbed their noses at city orders and rebuilt him overnight....

Who built it? Magic, said Powers. Christmas magic. And that's what he'll tell city enforcers if they pay a visit, he said.

I didn't click the link - but heck, what is wrong with having a giant Snowzilla?

Methinks some town officials have no sense of ha ha.

Leave it to a city worker to put the skids to something fun. They're as bad as the Parking Authority (Parking Nazis).

Where's that TV show "How'd They Do That?" when you need them? How did they get those pieces together, that had to weigh a TON!!!

I think it is cool and how nice that they thumbed their noses at the ones who banned it!

That's awesome. I can imagine the work that went into it.

I would think everyone would love something like that to look at and talk about. Long Live Snowzilla!!!!!

My goodness ... I would imagine that somewhere in that city, there is something FAR more important for the powers-that-be to worry about than a snowman.

"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."- P.S. Beagle

"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." - J.R.R. Tolkien
