What an amazing experience ~ 2 pics

Coming into the world at 4 pounds 9 ounces, 17 inches, and as cute as could be -- meet my goddaughter, Mia Marie!

This may be TMI for some, so continue at your own risk...
Yesterday was an amazing experience. I got to witness my best friend giving birth to her little girl. It had to be the most disgusting, bloody, gushy event I've witnessed, but absolutely freaking amazing. I'm so glad and touched I got to share that experience with my dear friend. Since day one she told me she wanted me there for her and that I was.

She called me while I was at work at 11:10ish. She told me she was at the hospital and Mia was coming! I started panicking and getting incredibly nervous. She was 6 cm dialated at that point.

I was pissed at myself for forgetting to return my purse camera to my purse after charging it the previous night. I couldn't leave right away because I was waiting for someone to return from break. So, it wasn't until 11:40ish that I arrived at the hospital. Thankfully, it took her a lot longer to go into actual labor.

Around 4:40ish her doctor arrived and broke her water. During this she went from 6cm to 8cm. The doctor said he'd be back in 15 minutes or so and she'd hopefully be ready. No later than 5 minutes, she was ready to go and fully dialated. It was too late for her to receive an epidural, so she had a natural birth but it was quick and easy. It was only around 40-60 minutes before Mia was out.

Mom and Mia are both healthy and doing great. Mia had low blood sugar count, so they're keeping her until later tonight or tomorrow. For such a tiny baby, she is in absolute health. She's doing wonderfully and is just the sweetest little baby. She is so precious and absolutely perfect.

This is all coming from someone who doesn't like kids all that much, but I will admit, this baby had me wrapped around her little hand before I even met her. I've already bought her so much stuff and I can see myself getting a lot more.

Anyhow, thank you for allowing me to share my experience with you. It's certainly one I will not forget.

omg, she's so perfect for such a teeny baby. Are they releasing her right away with low weight like that? Although to look at her you would think she does look ready to go home, such a pearl of a baby and just so perfect.
Congrats to both you and your friend.

Wow, Kay, what an experience for you! Congratulations on being there for your friend! It is an amazing experience however being the one delivering I never noticed the blood and rest because all I had eyes for was that baby!!!!

Your new god daughter is beautiful and her complexion is so nice and smooth. She is lucky to have you a part of her life!
