Collie pups **PICS** - 1 wk old today

The Collie babies are 1 wk old today so thought I'd share some new pictures of them... Sadly we did lose one of the rough tri males on Saturday. I believe he crawled under the blanket that is in the whelping box and got caught up under it while I was gone for a few hours saturday. Thankfuly the other puppies are doing great... and are nice and fat and growing like little weeds!!

I am now pretty sure both blue merle boys are smooths!! So if that is correct we have 4 smooths (2 blue boys, 1 tri boy, 1 tri girl) and 1 rough tri boy. Once they are a bit older and up on their feet I'll get individual pics of them.... but anyway.. here they are at 1 wk old.

Smooth Tri boy - I think he is absolutely beautiful!!! When I am looking at the litter and watching them nurse or just watching them sleep my eye always goes to him!...

Sorry to hear of the casualty, but I am happy to hear the rest are doing great.
Continue to keep us updated, please. :] I can't wait until they get their eyes open and begin to develop more pronounced personalities.

I love getting my newborn puppy fix everyday. It will be so much fun watching them grow from little eating, sleeping, and pooping balls of fur to little lively, rambunctious. loud pups, each with their own personality.

Thanks everyone!!! I just got new batteries for my camera so I may post more pictures of the babies later on this evening....

And of course ya'll know that I will need your help to come up with names (atleast call names!.. have some ideas for reg.names for some of them)... once they are a bit older. I have a call name idea for the "pick" male that I really like... but I'll be keeping that secret just a little longer... not good at coming up with names though, for the most part, so I'll need more help on call names later on LOL

As far as registered names go... The sire of my litter is CH Apple Valley Shades Of Blue - "Ben".

The litter Ben was in, were all named after Jazz Muscians because Ben's sire is CH Capella's Midnight Blues, HIC, ROM - "Memphis". In the litter along with Ben there was the only female named Lena (after Lena Horne), also in the litter was Louie, Fats, Nat etc.etc..etc..

I picked Shades Of Blue for Ben because shades of blue was the title of a CD of Ben E Kings....

Anyway..... Ben's sire Memphis is no longer alive.... Memphis was a GREAT dog and a wonderful producer and the biggest reason I got Ben.. because I wanted a show puppy sired by Memphis... Memphis was ranked as one of the top 10 smooths in the country for several years in a row, he achived his ROM and he won several AOM's different years at the collie nationals.

Anyway.. as far as registered names for these puppies I have been looking at naming them names having something to do with Memphis.... I've been looking up "Memphis Songs" online... and have a few ideas... while typically I like shorter registered names (Amy is Spiritwind Amaretto lol).... I like these song title name ideas I've found so far... some I like are...

Kennel name being "Spiritwind, which would be in front of the name

"Maybe It Was Memphis" - a country song by Pam Tillis
"Walking In Memphis" - I know most recently Lone Star did this song, but I cannot recall who did it originally...
"Back To Memphis"
"Memphis Blues" which might be good for one of the blue boys....

If anyone else has a good idea of names with the word Memphis in them... I'd love to get more suggestions!!!
