What a touching story! How beautiful you are, Elena.

It was very sad that your little kitten found a home before you and you were left in the shelter, waiting for someone to choose you. But fortune smiled upon you and your new daddy found a special way of bringing you home early. That your new family loved you so much and did not want you to wait a minute more is wonderful.

And now you are in your furrever home with Minou as your playmate. ELANE, ALENE, EELNA - however you arrange the letters - they spell one very special loved ELENA who is our beautiful COTD!

I sent the photo and story of Elena.

Elena walks around just like she knows she's cat of the day... but wait, euh... she always walks around like that!

We also have a dog (who also has been DOTD in the past, see http://dogoftheday.com/archive/2007/January/25.html).
Elena is not only playing with Minou, she also likes to fool around with Lucky and Mitzy.
Besides our 4 cats, we are also taking care of 2 other cats, Shiva and Blew. They are staying with us for 6 month to maybe 2 years because their mom is in the hospital. Their mom often visits them.

Oh my, when I saw Elena's picture, I thought I saw a replica of our own Maya!! And then I noticed that Elena lives in BELGIUM !!! If I am right, "Beselare" is a small town in the neighbourhood of Ypres!

(and Ypres is also called "the cat-city" with a cat-parade each 3 years)

It warms my heart to see how many animal lovers are out there in the world.
I feel that many times in my life I would have been lost without a cat by my side. They give more unconditional love than humans are capable of.

Beautiful Elena. I'm not sure who's luckier, you or your dear Mom and Dad...what a beautiful, heavenly match! I was so touched by your Daddy's loving words, his recounting how you came to be! Where to start...a birthday, Christmas Eve, a homeless kitty, a "reserve!" Such is the stuff dreams, and happy endings, are made of! That's one special Daddy you have there sweetheart, and all the ladies (and boys!) in his life are lucky to have him on board And what an extra special treat...your Dad David checked back with us! hehe So, you're but one of two in your family, one of two worthy recipients of our "top" honors! Elena is gorgeous! shorthairs are wonderful cats. i was tearing up when i read about her kitten going to a new home and Elena was saved from a christmas in the shelter. i just rescued my black and white tuzedo cat from a shelter.i have two shorthair cats and adore them! susanswatlin518
