    Grooming competition dog....

In Sept I will be entering my very first grooming competition. I will be taking a mini poodle and grooming him in the german trim.
On Tuesday I arranged for Bo to be dropped off at my friend's place so she could help me put him into the german trim.

Here are the before pics. He was a mess because his mom is in school and it's finals week, so there has been much studying taking up all her time. I know she's glad it's all over now.

No really I like being dirty!

Ummm I don't think I've ever stacked before....(he has he was just being a dork, lol)

Here are his after pics. He still has a lot of hair to grow in places to make the trim look a little more fancy, but I think he turned out okay. That's my friend in the pics. I'm the only one who touches my camera...lol Plus she has more experience stacking dogs so I thought maybe he'd stand better for her, but he was still being a dork and pretending he'd never had to do that in his life before...lol

And one out in the yard.

    *Thanks Ashley*

Bo looks amazing! Awesome job. ; )

I think German clips are my favorite. They look so pretty, but still natural. Where does he need to grow out his hair? The topknot?

He needs hair to grow on his topknot for sure, and his neck.. you can see the line where he was wearing his collar... no more collar wearing from now until Sept...lol (except for walks of course). He also needs more hair at the base of his tail so I can blend it into his back... and finally he needs more hair on his back legs.

To give you a better idea of what I mean here is a pic (this is my mentor btw, the one who helped me with Bo's haircut).

WW! I could never begin to do that in a million years! What a great job! Gosh I wish I could have you do my two just for once. Then I would know for sure just how inadequate my work really is! LOL! I am not a real fan of shaved ears and I do miss seeing a nice pom on the end of the tail, but I can really appreciate the work that went into making Bo even more handsome than he already was!

    Before and After - WOW!!!

It's like working on a piece of marble, finding the masterpiece in there! I'd have never guessed ANYONE could get the dog in the Before shot to look like the After photo.

You are definitely ready for a competition, good luck!

Since he is a white one, and mine dogs are white, I HAVE to ask: what shampoo did you use? Any conditioner? Which one? Thanks!

Wow! What a difference! You did a really good job. Have you been watching Groomer Has It?

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Thanks. And no I don't get it. I ordered Animal Planet just to see it, and apparently we get different programming up here. Oh well, I probably wouldn't like it. Probably full of drama that sheds a bad light on groomers, like most reality shows seem to do.

You would hate it. I watched half of one episode, and was just disgusted. Don't bother ... trust me.

Beautiful job! I've been trying to get one of my stodgy old customers to let me do that groom on their dogs. No luck yet. We are not exactly a cutting edge little town out here. LOL

If I could get a few days, I'd drive down and see you!

humm I quite like the show and watch it every week. There is lots of drama it's pretty funny.

I agree, Lindsey! I think it's amazinggg. = D Me and my friend Grace hang out and watch it together every night it's on.

It is kind of silly, for entertainment purposes, and kind of extreme... but I actually don't feel it sheds a bad light on groomers! It shows all of the difficulties of grooming dogs, and if anything makes groomers seem much more passionate and artistic.
