I only have one tattoo, and it is in the upper middle of my back, between my shoulder blades. It was a little painful at first, but then the endorphines kicked in and I was fine. My tattoo artist was great at making me feel comfortable by talking with me the whole time!

I am planning to get another, some day. It will be on my ankle. I have been told this one will hurt because there is very little cushioning there.

Good luck! Let us see pictures when it is completed!

My one and only (currently) tattoo is an ankh along my spine. It didn't really hurt but there were a couple moments right on the spine that felt like a bit of an electric shock. I'm pretty good with discomfort though. It's a totally subjective experience but one I thuroghly enjoyed!

Of COURSE it hurts, you are getting poked with a needle 80,000 times! LOL

It hurts worse over bony areas, like you spine, than over fatty areas.

It's bearable. But not what I would call pleasant.
