    What year was the first microwave patented?

    I was surprised!

    ...today is the start of International Microwave Month? The first microwave was patented in October, 1945. This month recognizes the microwave as the most important tool in the modern kitchen. Do you realize there's a whole generation out there that can only cook using a microwave?!
