    Hiking Mount Timpanogos...again <photos>

Yes, we hiked it again a while ago. You can see the pics from the first hike here http://www.petoftheday.com/talk/show...ght=timpanogos This is the other trail, it goes to Emerald Lake, then meets up with the trail to the saddle as well. We just went to the lake. A couple of friends came with me and took their dogs. Lady is the german shorthair pointer and Travi is the black and white mix (your guess).
    Here's the pics (sorry there's a ton!)

Greeting another husky on the trail (they had a white one too)

    The first waterfall

    The second waterfall

    Can you spot the dog?

    Lady, Nebo, and Travi

Travi and Nebo take in the view

    Water break

Lady says "Aw do we really have to go all the way up there?"

    Nebo and Travi

I love this one. That's the trail actually, well underneath the rocks...I guess there was a rockslide.

    Handsome hiker

Lady wondering when her "mom" would ever catch up (that pic was after we'd waited a while for her to catch up too )

    Adorable Travi

A welcome sight...we made it to the meadow, not much further to the lake

There were many mountain goats up on the rocks, I wasn't close enough to get any great photos, but it was neat to watch them

Emerald Lake (if you look down on it from the top, it is an emerald color)

This is a glacial fed lake...you can't get much colder than that...and Travi wanted to swim in it. Somehow I picture Kiara doing the same thing.

    "Throw the stick again!"

    "Please!"

Nebo splashed around in it, but he wasn't too keen on swimming in that cold of water

Pretty Lady actually sitting still long enough for me to take a pic

We wandered about half-way up the glacier. Just FYI Glaciers are slippery and it hurts when you fall and hit into a rock.

"This is my kind of water!"

Who's that idiot standing on a glacier dressed for summer? (bad pic)

    *Ugliness warning* (bad pic again)

Nebo in the little shelter we called home for a night last summer

Above the lake and the pretty pathetic glacier...it was much larger last year

    Mountain goats near the lake

Nebo fell asleep while we were waiting for Lady's owner to find her again (she kept wandering off)

WOW, Amy! This shot is gorgeous!! You take such wonderful pictures. As always I am totally jealous. I keep telling my parents that if I could take one trip in the US, it would be to Utah to your area ... of course I have your pictures to thank for that But I really do love hiking, there just isn't much of nothing to hike around here.

GREAT pictures, Amy! Makes me want to visit again.

Cool to see you are hanging out with Lady and Melissa! Travi is absolutely ADORABLE. And yep, Kiki would do the same thing and probably shiver the whole time.

Amazingly great pics! I'm jealous of the beautiful area where you live. I love waterfalls and have never been able to get that close to one. And this is my favorite pic. It would be used for Utah tourism. Plus, Nebo makes it looks even better. And you may hate getting your pic taken with them but you'll never regret it. I wish I had more of Duke and I together.

Lady is just too cute. That one of her in the water walking and looking back is really good.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you enjoyed the pics! I'd love to drag all of you up to the top of Timpanogos...it's beautiful but I think most of you would be hating me by the end of it lol. I hope some of you make it out here some day, though I must warn you I'm a terrible tour guide.

WHY do you beat yourself up like this?

You're *NOT* "a terrible tour guide" at all ...

    * Ya never "lost" a tour member (that we know of)
    * Ya always manage to get everyone back home
    * The Dawgs even go along with ya
    * Maybe nobody knows for sure - but ya *SEEM* to follow the right trails

So QUIT IT with the bad-mouthing of yourself.

Lol thanks Phred but seriously you can ask a few people and I think they'll tell you what I just said. I may live here, but I don't know how to get very many places (driving). I do know how to get to all of my favorite trails and I don't have a problem following those but driving to places I rarely go, I'm pretty clueless. I haven't ever lost a "tour member" though!

    Hey Amy ~

    Next rainy / non-hikin day ...
Sit down and print out a couple dozen MapQuest Routes for those "rarely go" places ...
Stuff 'em in the glove box and you're ready for the next "tour".

You (almost) CAN'T get "lost" with a MappyQuest in your pokit!

Great pictures, Amy! Both trails are spectacular, but I think I like this one the best because of the glacier and the lake. It looks like everyone had a good time on the hike; as always.
