Babit, bun-bun, was very sick, now at the RB

On Friday morning went to check on the bunnies and saw that Babit was laying on the floor in a very unusual position and knew it wasn't good, approached her touched her and didn't move at all, pushed little harder and did a couple rolls. She couldn't get on her feet. So, off to the vet.

It's, now, a couple days that she is boarded at the vet clinic, being treated for Pasteurella and Enchephalitozom (I made the vet write it down for me).
The reports are not good, she didn't improve a bit. She might have some kind of brain damage.

I don't know what to do, appart from waiting the outcome

We have another rabbit, called Jacques, I don't know if he must be in danger too. We have cleaned all their living area, the hutch, the cage, thrown the hay was there.

They were bonded from the minute they met and spent their days grooming each other and cuddling. He must feel very lonely. I notice though he is playing more than before, maybe is out of boredom.

    A sad

I am sorry about Babit. I hope the vets can help her get well.

I did a little search for the things she is being treated for. I found somethings on Pasteurella. It seems it is not the big problem though and I cannot find out anything about Enchephalitozom. I would like to though so I can understand.

Pasteurella is thought to live in the throats and nasal passages of some rabbits without causing any signs of disease. However, rabbits can develop health problems caused by Pasteurella, especially if they are unwell or stressed:

    • ‘Snuffles’ is the most common health problem in rabbits affected by Pasteurella. Rabbits with snuffles suffer from a nasal discharge and sneezing. Pasteurella isn’t the only cause of snuffles, but it is the one most people have heard of.

    • Pneumonia can complicate snuffles in rabbits

    • Some runny eyes in rabbits are due to Pasteurella, but there are many other causes too – including dental disease.

    • Abscesses in rabbits are often caused by Pasteurella
I really hope Babit can be helped and return home to Jacques and to her momma.

    Please keep us updated.

Off the phone with the Vet Clinic:

Se, still, can do nothing apart from rolls
Eat and drink from the syringe, the subcutaneous fluids have been removed, because she was getting tangled with the tube.
